There’s very little in the world that cures what ails you quite like a vacation. Yet when television shows decide to pack a picnic and head for the coast, the resulting atrocity isn’t just a terrible episode, it’s often an exercise that scuttles the creative credibility of the entire show? You only have to look at the term ‘jumping the shark’ to realise the link between holidays and the inevitable doom of even the most popular of televisions series’. TV trivia buffs will tell you that the term was coined in reference to a Happy Days’ three parter named ‘Hollywood’. The lights of LA have called to the Happy Days cast, and the Fonz is challenged by a local hero, “The California Kid” to literally ski-jump over a great white shark. And well… he manages it. That’s it.

The show may have subsequently clung on for six more seasons, but this one episode made it clear that all creative energy had been depleted in the writer’s room. Shark jumpers are often survivors: ‘clinging on’ is just something they do.. A classic shark jumping episode comes from Friends, when the cast are on Barbados Holidays , viewers were treated to a confused Rachel breaking character and kissing long-time irrelevance Joey. The Simpsons meanwhile has been running so long that it jumps the shark at least twice every season by most accounts. The common opinion is that the Simpsons was never quite as good after Principal Skinner was found out to be a fraud in ‘Principal and the Pauper’. But aside from my opinion that this episode isn’t actually all that bad, the ninth season contains enough great moments to make it seem more of a mis-step than a fullblown descent into mediocrity.

For me, the format stretched itself too far with ‘Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo’, when the Simpsons go to Japan ignoring Homer’s preference for Caribbean holidays, with little reasoning (or interest) imbued in the plotting. References to ‘zany’ Japanese culture were old hat then, and they’re excessive now.

Why do TV shows so often fail on vacation? It’s the fact that it’s the ultimate gimmick. Even in the Simpsons, a new location requires a bunch of new assets and general expenditure, which all eats away at the usual priority of writing a decent script (not forgetting that though the shows above have all jumped the shark, they were once the best in their class on TV). Anyone considering a holiday episode for even the most successful of series’ would be best advised to reconsider: you may never be able to regain your credibility.

If you are a diehard fan of the popular television program The Simpsons, there is a new product that you and family are sure to enjoy. This great idea combines the excitement of playing board games with your family and friends with your favorite television cartoon characters. Simpsons Monopoly is a collectible version of the immensely popular classic game that will have you and your group laughing and playing for hours at a time. This new edition features all of the characters and locations in Springfield that fans have come to know and love.

The playing pieces that you select between are six of the regular Simpsons’s characters, including Homer, Jebidiah Springfield and more. In addition, there are four more collectible tokens that can be purchased separately. The plot for the game involves a monorail system that is coming to Springfield. Of course, this means that everyone is now attempting to buy up all the individual properties appearing in the Simpson Monopoly game, so that the monorail stations and stops can be built on their property. Instead of the original Atlantic City properties that are usually seen in the Parker Brothers classic version, once again this collectible version takes liberties and renames them. Springfield landmarks such as the Nuclear Power Plant, the Kwik-E-Mart, Moe’s Bar and Mr. Burns Mansion will be immediately recognized by fans of the series. Even the play money that comes with the game is designed to pay homage to the Simpsons.

For those of you who may prefer the board games that have combined a bit of the newer technology there is a version that will delight you as well. You can use the Simpsons Electronic Banking Monopoly game and enjoy the same type of fun but in a faster and more convenient form. This version is going to be familiar to anyone who has played a game of electronic Monopoly in the past. The biggest difference is that the properties and characters will be from the Simpsons television show.

If you want a scarier edge, you can get the Simpsons Tree House of Horrors Halloween edition. The board properties are slightly different from the other Simpson themed games. In this version, there is a scarier theme and this is even reflected in the properties that are included.

Anyone who is a collector of board games or different Monopoly versions will want one of these new limited editions. As you can imagine, fans of the series will love to get a copy of Simpson Monopoly right away. When you are looking for a little offbeat entertainment, you need to check out one of these newest board games for loads of over the top laughter and fun.

These cartoons actually compete with each other for viewings and ratings and it really is up to you on which one you like the most. Although these toons to not use the van very often when they do include them they are made out to be amusing.

News Van- Simpsons

Kent Brockman is the newsreader from the Simpsons that has a lot to do with vans because the company obviously own a news van. Kent is never seen driving the van itself but it is a known fact that he does not come up with all of these quirky remarks himself, the team in the van channel them through to him.

Police Van With Family Guy

The van has only ever featured in one episode of the series and was used to listen in on a conversation between Lois and an ex. Peter is assuming that Lois is having an affair or about to start an affair but it turns out that all she wanted was a catch up over a coffee. Peter joins the conversation half way through and catches something that sounds bad when of course it really isn’t.

Ice-Cream Van- South Park

There have been a lot of vans in this series simply because it has gone on for such a long time, the best one has to be this one. The van has only ever appeared in one episode and in the episode did not manage to serve ice-cream but to kill Kenny.

There it is, the best cartoons vans that have ever come into existance. Let us just hope that these toons looked into commercial contract hire for their vans to save a bit of money. Van contract hire could actually be a better way to use a van as it is a lot cheaper than buying one outright.

Who doesn’t love the Simpsons family?  With its loveable characters, funny gags, and witty lines, everyone is sure to get a good laugh when watching The Simpsons.

But here’s the deal – you get to laugh along with them even on your Nintendo Wii!  The Simpsons Game Wii is a fun and enjoyable game featuring America’s dysfunctional family, the Simpsons.  

The game lives true to its name and incorporates favorite Simpson lines and gags, characters, game parodies, and out of this world scenes that Simpsons fanatics are sure to love.  In fact, the whole game is not even much of a game itself, but a long episode instead.  

The good thing about the Simpsons game is that it features fantastic dialogue that makes fun of gaming clichés and the Simpsons themselves.  Visuals is highly commendable, and there are loads of stuff to gather and unlock along the way.

Unfortunately, gameplay is not too good, and sometimes the camera actually gets in the way of the player’s view.  The game can be beat in as fast as six hours, and sometimes the Wii control scheme is unresponsive and clumsy.

When playing the game, you’ll get a good dose of the Simpsons humour applied to the gaming world.  You’ll encounter parodies of Grand Theft Auto, EverQuest, Medal of Honor, and classics like Joust and Gauntlet.  The makers of this game even lifted out old episodes of the show and made them into game levels, featuring Linguo the grammar robot, or the evil dolphins who wanted to take over Springfield.  

All this humour is enough to disguise the average gameplay of The Simpsons Game.  And although some missions might be boring and simple, fans of The Simpsons will surely appreciate the humour injected into this game. If you don’t have a Wii why not learn how to speed up your pc so you can enjoy games likes this on your computer. Once you know how to make your computer faster you will be able to enjoy much better pc performance.
