‘American Idol’ – Howard Stern On Being The New Simon Cowell
Howard Stern – the new judge on “American Idol”?
When I first heard that “American Idol” producers wanted Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell, I thought “That can’t be true. But once the truth was revealed, I said to myself, “Howard Stern would never go for that”. We are talking about a man who left mainstream radio for satellite radio because he thought he was censored too much.
Howard Stern, however, has already confirmed that Fox is indeed trying to persuade him to take the position. The interesting part of all of this is that it might just work. So will it have to be unlimited payroll loan options in order to get this guy from having the freedom to say whatever he feels to being on a Fox program?
Tons of money in salary
Following his usual routine, Howard Stern isn’t being discreet about exactly the salary he’d like “American Idol” to pay him. He would probably like to make the same $ 100 million a year he made for his radio show contract. Ofcourse, the difference is that a year of “American Idor” does’t compare to a year of work. Stern said on his show:
“$100 million to judge a karaoke contest? Yeah, I think I would do that show for $100 million,” Stern said. “It would be the best thing that happened to me. What a cush job: $100 million for four months. Who wouldn’t take that?”
Howard Stern also said he believes he is the best person for the job. However, if producers actually pay that much for Howard Stern, they might have to up the salaries of the other judges in order to avoid another Paula-Abdul-style dispute.
Thoughts on Howard Stern replacing Simon Cowell
It is true that Howard Stern will be able to be just as feisty of a judge as Simon Cowell. However, I can’t imagine “American Idol” agreeing to pay Howard Stern that much for his first stint on the show. And I can’t picture Stern being on Fox or any kind of television program that’s deemed “a family show”.
On the other hand, the newest “American Idol” judge, Ellen DeGeneres, is not so thrilled. The Chicago Sun-Times writes that “Ellen has told just about anyone who will listen that she’s totally opposed to the [Howard Stern] idea.”
So Who Got Kicked Off American Idol May 19?
As the final week of American Idol begins, people wonder who got kicked off American Idol May 19. Surprising to no one, Casey James was booted. Goldilocks may have been popular with Kara, but apparently not popular enough with the voting public to make it to the finale, and he was sent packing. The final showdown is next week, between Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. We will also say goodbye to Simon Cowell next week, as he is leaving American Idol.

Casey James is the weakest link on American Idol
Casey James is no more an American Idol hopeful. As a contestant, he has ceased to be. As Mike Lynche was kicked off the week before, who got kicked off American Idol May 19 would be the final elimination before the final. The Top 10 do get to go out on tour, though, so Casey James probably won’t be looking for cash loans anytime soon.
Not a big surprise
I think we all knew it would happen. For weeks now, American Idol Season 9 has been about one thing, and that is Mama Sox. That the show has been mostly about one contestant is sort of People’s Exhibit A that this season has been – how do I put it? Undercooked, I think is fitting. Though Lee DeWyze is certainly good, and other contestants have been as well, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James are some of the best performers overall, having both the pipes but also can hold their own instrumentally. Casey James seems to be the better guitarist of the two of them.
American Idol finale
Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze will face off for the finale. That aside, Simon Cowell is leaving, and American Idol is thus losing one of its most vital parts. An acid tongue foil to relentless positivity makes TV shows more watchable. (Point in case, one of the most watched shows on Fox is House.) If a sunshine vomiting bobble head replaces Simon Cowell, American Idol will be almost unwatchable.
Robbie Williams could well potentially be appearing on x-factor next year
Simon Cowell is rumoured to be making big plans to try and get Robbie Williams to be a judge on next year’s x-factor. It has been claimed that the current presenter on the show, Dannii Minogue may be booted off the show after a furious back stage brawl with fellow judge, Louis Walsh. Danni Minogue admitted earlier this week that she felt distressed when Louis Walsh accused her of stealing his song choice for his band, JLS for her contestant Rachel Hylton. None of these acts actually won the competition but the argument has fuelled hatred that is still going strong between the two judges. Dannii Minogue was also displeased at the fact that the new judge, Cheryl Cole took her special little seat next to lead judge, Simon Cowell and has also looked into rumours that Cheryl Cole is actually getting paid more than she is.
Yet, Minogue has denied reports that she is leaving the x-factor competition. She has stated that the producers of the show have told her she is staying and that she has not heard anything different. However a spokesman for the X-Factor show has said that no decisions had been made about who is staying in the competition and that it is all speculation. Personally, I think it is quite exciting that Robbie Williams might be a judge on the show however I would only think that is mere speculation and nothing else at the moment. Addititionally, you have to ask yourself what it will do for the credibility of Robbie Williams’ career as the x-factor is exactly the most highly thought of event within the music industry. Liam Gallagher from Oasis has openly stated that the x-factor is a sham and puts false hopes in people minds who are considering getting involved with the music industry. ‘It makes people believe that getting into the music industry is easy’.

The end of the infamous X-factor?
Hit UK show, the X-Factor which is the sister show to US hit, American Idol, is to take a harsh u-turn next year as the lead presenter for the television program, Simon Cowell has confessed he might leave. Can you imagine that show without, Simon Cowell? All the snide comments, the cheeky winking, the strange haircut! It just wouldn’t be the same without him to be honest which is why the show’s producers are more than eager to arrange another deal with Simon Cowell as soon as possible. Simon has repeatedly been talking about his departure from the show stating that he only has one year left on his contract and he will assess his contract closer to the time. In all honesty, I think it may be time for a shake up in the show but it wouldn’t be the same without Simon. The UK born judge also works on neighbouring American shows like, American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent. His current schedule is exhausting claims Simon, ‘something has to give as my schedule for the year is simply too much’. This year’s show has been the best to date as it attracted the biggest names in pop such as, Beyonce, Britney Spears and BoyZone to appear live on stage with the contestants. Ratings wise it has been the most incredible turn out with over six million people tuning on their televisions to watch the final at the weekend just gone. There have also been numerous rumours considering the future of Danni Minogue as she has literally been out classed by fellow judge, Cheryl Cole from UK band, Girls Aloud.
If Simon Cowell were to quit the show, who on earth would take his place? I can’t imagine anyone on TV at the moment which would be able to fill Simon Cowell’s shoes as the angry, witty, slightly charming judge that everyone loves and hates at the same time.
