Better Options With Blu Ray Movies

Eventually, as technology advances, the old formats will die and new formats will emerge. The latest winner in the distribution format war was Blu ray movies, which triumphed over HD-TV discs last year.

Quantum of Solace [Blu-ray]

Studio: Tcfhe/mgm Release Date: 03/24/2009 Run time: 107 minutes Rating: Pg13 Daniel Craig hasn’t lost a step since Casino Royale–this James Bond remains dangerous, a man who could earn that license to kill in brutal hand-to-hand combat… but still look sharp in a tailored suit. And Quantum of Solance itself carries on from the previous film like no other 007 movie, with Bond nursing his anger from the Casino Royale storyline and vowing blood revenge on those responsible. For the new plot, we have villain Mathieu Amalric (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), intent on controlling the…

Quantum of Solace [Blu-ray]

With a number of exclusive studio deals, these discs can take film watching to new heights with their massive storage capacity. These entertainment movies are intended to reach out to Generation-Y movie fans with social networking and movies games, as well as their downloadable features and interactive menus.

Of course, not everyone feels these Blu ray movies bonus features are necessary. “I’m not sure if people really want games and trivia,” admits Shoot Em Up producer Rober Meyer Burnett.

Some consumers may feel irritated that they’re expected to buy a new machine to play entertainment movies. Yet, the shift has been gradual to calm dissent and there are many great features that Blu ray technology offers.

For instance, creators are looking at releasing DVDs with a re-writable storage section so consumers can download updated bonus material (rather than buy anniversary editions and subsequent releases).

Secondly, top movies will be seen in higher definition and 7.0 Surround Sound (compared to the old Dolby Digital 5.0). Many people are choosing to buy the PlayStation3, which plays blu ray dvd movies and also allows users to surf the web, listen to music, store data and play video games.

According to movies news analysts, other blu ray movies features may include space to bookmark Internet pages and add downloaded movie bonuses, the ability to look up movie theater times and contribute to interactive movie blogs.

There will likely be additional options for viewing subtitles, angle alternates and video-in-video modes. Graphics and menu options will look more like a computer or DISH Network menu than a traditional DVD menu.

“Blu ray disc models bring exciting interactive features to life and offer consumers a ground-breaking experience,” explains Chris Fawcett, vice president of marketing for Sony Electronics.

In the coming months, a number of anticipated Blu ray movies disc releases will come out, including: A Charlie Brown Christmas, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Wolf/Brahm Stoker’s Dracula/Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein trilogy, Iron Man, Land of the Lost, Van Helsing, Godzilla, Forrest Gump, It’s A Wonderful Life, the Rocky collection, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Logan’s Run, Fight Club, Star Trek (2009) and Gone With the Wind.

The ability to buy movies that are trilogies all in one affordable set (on one disc) is enticing. Also, since many of these releases were made years ago, there is no real push to crank them out quickly, thus compromising bonus material. You can find many innovative bonuses and featurettes on the new versions.

Now that the prices are coming down to DVD-level, this motion picture format may sell like hot-cakes after all.

Blu-ray Movies: Your own Home Cinema

Whist still some way off conquering the incumbent DVD format entirely, Blu-ray is certainly starting to make its impact on the lucrative home movie market. There is so much to love about a blu-ray movie, from the great color and terrific sound to all the extra features Blu-ray technology has to offer. One of the best blu-ray movies I saw recently was Batman, The Dark Knight. This film was a real powerhouse and had some excellent action sequences in it. I am really looking forward to getting my own copy of The Dark Knight on blu-ray and taking it home to watch. There are some websites that allow you to sign up for information about the latest blu-ray releases.

If you haven’t seen blu-ray movies before you will be astounded by the step up from the DVD format. Even though DVD offers really good picture and audio quality, blu-ray is in a whole new league. If you are a movie buff it is hard not to fall in love with all that blu-ray has to offer. The latest movies are always available on blu-ray so you can hire them from the video store, or else you can buy them to watch over and over again. One of my favorite blu-ray movies was Mad Max, because you get to see a whole lot of exciting action scenes and some really fast cars.

Blu-ray is a home theatre experience, the likes of which we’ve not seen in our homes before. It was only recently that we were still raving about the DVD format – an excellent format for sure but by no means is it in the same league as blu-ray. Every time you put a blu-ray disc into the blu-ray player you are transported to a world of audio and visual bliss, where you are made to feel like you are in the movie yourself. Having a blu-ray movie at your house is the closest thing you can get to going to the cinema. If you haven’t tried it out then you should do so as soon as possible.
