2012 Movie Review
The end of the world as we know it
The world is going to end — again. The speculation surrounding the 2012 movie reminds me of the days just before 2000 hit when everyone was scared. I’m not really sure exactly how rumors that the world was going to end or that we could expect the Second Coming of Christ began, but they were everywhere and even easier to find than money lenders.
All computers were bound to stop working, Jan 1, 2000. The next end of the world is 2012.I don’t believe the world will end in 2012 at the end of the Mayan Calendar but to see the number of TV specials on about it right now, apparently some do.
‘2012? pulls in the big bucks
The film “2012,” which stars John Cusack and details the upcoming apocalypse, beat out all of the other films in theaters in terms of ticket sales over the weekend. Maybe because there was really no competition of new releases out there.
A Christmas Carol pushed out of #1 spot by million 2012. 1 spot to No 2. The Men who Stare at Goats came in 3rd with 6.1 million. Precious came in #. 4th of the 5 places, with .ticket sales of over 1 million. Precious is only showing in less than 200 theaters so this is amazing. This is It, the Michael Jackson movie, remains in the top 5.1 million.
More about ‘2012?
The Mayan Long Count calendar comes to an end on Dec. 21, 2012. 5125 is the actual year. Theories are flying as to what the 2012 really means. People are comparing it with the apocalpyse.
2012 is a disaster flick. Filmmakers are making it clear that the film is based loosely on the Mayan calendar. It’s not really meant to reflect the beliefs of the people who follow that calendar, it’s just a disaster movie designed to sell tickets — and sell tickets it did.
Box office top 10
Amazingly, despite horrible reviews, both “Fourth Kind” and “Couples Retreat” did well at the box office, coming in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Couples Retreat is also in that top 5. 5 weeks after it’s release. 8th place was “Paranormal Activity”.
Paranormal Activity cost only ,000 to make and brought in over million. 2012 has made more than 0 million in just a few days. Number 10 at the box office is “Law Abiding Citizen” making 3.9 million; The Box was next pulling in 3.2 million.

I admit it is rare that I found a post that I can’t find numerous things wrong with it. This might actually be an exception. I don’t see any huge grammatical mistakes, nothing extremely dumb talked about, and a theme that doesn’t look like a toddlers pain easle. Am I impressed? Maybe; but definitely better than many.
