Beginning in 1985, Brad Pitt had a dream to become an actor, this dream led him to leave behind his studies at the University of Missouri and pursue his real ambition in Hollywood. Arriving in LA, he began taking acting lessons from well-known acting coach Roy London, and eventually landed a minor part in ‘Another World’, a daytime soap opera. Soon this minor part would escalate the Brad Pitt films legacy over the next two decades.

In addition to appearing in numerous television series, sitcoms and dramas alike, there have been more than 35 Brad Pitt films on the big screen to complement his acting career. Many of the Brad Pitt films from his early career were not as well received as his most recent films. For example, ‘Johnny Suede’, ‘A River Runs Through It’ and ‘Kalifornia’ from the early 1990s. It was not until his portrayal of Louis de Pointe du Lac in ‘Interview with the Vampire’ that he started to receive recognition. This film and subsequently the next three Brad Pitt films gave him nominations or awards for his performances, including a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in ’12 Monkeys’.

Brad Pitt films in the five year period leading up to ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ largely were mostly overlooked by the movie industry and general public in relation to awards, nominations and gross receipts. His character in Oceans Eleven, Rusty Ryan, stimulated Brad’s career. Then in 2004, Brad took the lead role in Troy, portraying Achilles, of which he was given the Teen Choice Award and a nomination for MTV’s Best Male Performance award, ‘Troy’ topped the box office at nearly half a billion dollars. An amazing sum for Brad Pitt as this became his highest grossing film ever.

Brad Pitt films that did not receive an award or nomination between 2004 and 2008 was surprisingly, ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’. Yet, the total gross recipts at the box office for each of these movies was in excess of 0 million. The latest Brad Pitt film to receive a nomination is ‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’, where Brad received a total of 5 nominations for Best Actor and Outstanding Performance by a Male actor from the Screen Actors Guild, the Academy Awards, BAFTA and the Golden Globes.

Upcoming Brad Pitt films include ‘The Tree of Life’ due to be released in late 2009 and ‘Inglourious Basterds’, a Quentin Tarantino production, where Brad plays an illiterate hillbilly from the mountains of Tennessee. Filming took place in Germany and France this past winter and is expected to be released in time for the Cannes Film Festival.
