Me without You: Timid, tender Williams and un-tight, extroverted Friel have been best friends as long as they can remember, however as they come of age their kinship is compromised. Conceivably captivating girl friend film has some strainful minutes, but it doesn’t quite gel. Cast includes Anna Friel, Michelle Williams, Oliver Milburn, Trudie Styler, Marianne Denicourt, Steve John Shepherd, Nicky Henson, Allan Corduner, Kyle MacLachlan, and Anna Popplewell. Seize the Day: Williams is momentous as Tommy Wilhelm, turning 40 and a failure by any standard, which?s broke, much damaged and despondent for love. Wiseman and Stiller offer fine aid as his cold hearted dad and a con man he naively believes in. Lots of recognizable faces in tiny roles: Tony Roberts, Richard Shull, John Fiedler, Jo Van Fleet, William Hickey, Eileen Heckart, and numerous others. Solarbabies: Futuristic adolescent rubbish has Gertz and a bunch of her friends are trapped by a Nazi-like group inside a fortress. The group plans to get out with the help of “Bohdi”, an old mystical force. Cast includes Richard Jordan, Jami Gertz, Jason Patric, Lukas Haas, Charles Durning, Peter DeLuise, Adrian Pasdar, Sarah Douglas, Frank Talk, Terrence Mann, and Kelly Bishop.  (194 minutes, 1986)

Eagle vs Shark: A festivity of life’s oddballs, as mousy Lily sets her sights on self-fashioned macho guy Jarrod (Clement), who lives only to get revenge on the classmate who used to beat him up in high school. Cast includes Loren Horsley, Jemaine Clement, Brian Sergent, Rachel Home, Craig Chamber, and Joel Tobeck. (87 minutes, 2007)

Alexander’s Ragtime Band: Cheesy however amusing musical chronicling the virtuoso and romantic ups and downs of hot-headed aristocrat bandleader Power, fine gentleman and pianist composer Ameche, and hard but vulnerable singer Faye (in one of her best acting jobs). Cast includes Tyrone Power, Alice Faye, Don Ameche, Ethel Merman, Jack Haley, Jean Hersholt, Helen Westley, Jand ohn Carradine. (105 minutes, 1938)

Follow the Sun: Fictionalized biopic of golfer Ben Hogan with hokey dramatics to fill in lean spots. Cast includes Glenn Ford, Anne Baxter, and Dennis O’keefe.  (93 minutes, 1951)
