British Comedy Program Profile, It’s Only Fools & Horses!
British humor has a rich history and is loved my millions of people across the UK and also around the whole world. Its unique style and taste manages to capture the audience. One of the most poular sitcoms was Only Fools & Horses which is still watched on repeat everyday.
Only Fools & Horses is a popular British sitcom which was broadcast in the UK from 1981 to 2003. It has since gone on to be shown in many countries around the globe. The show was set in Peckham, London and revolved around the lives of Derek “Del Boy” Trotter and his younger brother Rodney Trotter.
The show is very humorous and was a massive hit with both the media and audience. In December ’96 an episode titled “Time On Our Hands” received over 24,000,000 viewers, which (at the time of writing this) stands at fourth place in the most watched episodes on British TV. Before this the show had quite a slow start but with a strong cast the show went on to be a big success.
Main Characters
Del Boy was played by popular actor David Jason, a stereotypical market trader who would try anything to become rich. He was sharp witted and full of self-confidence but could never quite realise his incredibly high ambitions. He eventually made the money he always dreamed of when Del Boy and Rodney auctioned off an antique watch they found in their garage.
Rodney was played by actor Nicholas Lyndhurst, more academic than Del Boy but lacking the basic common sense needed to ever make the 2 brothers rich. His general role throughout the show was to be Del’s sidekick.
The show also had a very strong supporting cast which brought to life lots of great characters including Grandad, Uncle Albert, Trigger, Boycie, Raquel, Cassandra, Marlene, Denzil, Mickey Pearce, Mike, Damien and Sid.
Relive the Great Laughs
The comedy show can be enjoyed over and over again with repeats still shown on TV, watching online videos or joining the Only Fools & Horse fan club.
